About the Southern Environmental Law Center

SELC's mission is to protect the natural environment of the Southeast. Working closely with state and local partners, we provide legal advocacy and leadership on priority regional issues relating to forests, the coast and wetlands, energy, air and water pollution, and transportation and land use. Over its 20-year history, SELC has earned a reputation as one of the leading environmental organizations in the country.

SELC has offices in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, and satellites in Washington, DC, Asheville, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina. We currently have 70 employees, including 33 attorneys.
